Monthly Storytelling at Sta. Filomena District Library

Monthly storytelling at Iloilo city public library in Sta. Filomena, Arevalo.

Iloilo City Public Library in Brgy. Sta. Filomena, Arevalo is holding storytelling for kids every second Tuesday of the month. This is part of the WHEELS Program of Mayor Jerry Treñas which seeks to promote education of young Ilonggos.

The Arevalo public library located at the second floor of Sta. Filomena Daycare Center was launched last July 7, and is now ready to serve everyone. It is equipped with tables and chairs, desktop computers and Wi-Fi for those who want to study, research and review.

This is a temporary site of the public library until the Chief Justice Ramon Avanceña Public Library will soon be constructed in Arevalo Plaza.

Treñas led the inauguration together with Matty Treñas, school administrator of Technical Institute of Iloilo City – Molo Campus.

The city’s top executive also initiated the storytelling session with children of Sta. Filomena Daycare Center. The activity is currently done monthly every second Tuesday and starts at 9:30AM.

Registration is open to all the kids ages 4-7yrs old. We can accommodate 10 kids. For advance registration you may call/message us at our FB page Iloilo City Public Library, Telephone number 351 3729. The Library is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Treñas is pushing for the establishment of district libraries to bring educational services closer to residents.

The City Government helped in the construction of Graciano Lopez Jaena Library in Jaro which is now operational. Soon to be built is the Chief Justice Ramon Avanceña Public Library in Arevalo and Delfin Jaranilla Library in Lapaz.

“Importante ang edukasyon sang mga kabataan gani ang Iloilo City Government ginatinguhaan gid ang paghatag sang maayo nga lugar sa diin sila ang makatuon,” Treñas said. “We continue to value education and level up our learning resources for the welfare of our people.”
