DOH reports 9 new COVID-19 in WV.

Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office 6 announced that there are nine new cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas. This brings the total to 13 COVID-19 cases.

DOH-6 also confirmed first COVID-19 death in the region. He is WV’s patient number 11, a 72-year-old male from Iloilo City who died last March 19.

Here’s the rundown of the new positive cases as of March 27, 2020:
o WV #5: 81-year-old male from Aklan province; with history of travel to Manila
o WV #6: 75-year-old male from Bacolod City; had history of travel to Manila;
o WV #7: 40-year-old male from Bacolod City; with history of travel to Manila;
o WV #8: 68-year-old from Aklan with history of travel to Manila;
o WV #9: 28-year-old male from Bacolod City; son of confirmed COVID-19 WV #1;
o WV #10: 59-year-old female from Iloilo Province; no history of exposure to a positive case nor travel;
o WV #11: 72-year-old male from Iloilo City; with history of travel to Manila; had fever and cough; died on 19 March 2020 due to COVID-19, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Community-Acquired Pneumonia-High Risk
o WV #12: 22-year-old female from Iloilo Province; with history of travel to Manila;
o WV #13: 37-year-old male from Aklan; travel and exposure history for verification

o Iloilo City – 2
o Bacolod City – 4

WESTERN VISAYAS UPDATES ON PUI AND PUM
As of 12nn of 26 March 2020, the DOH WV CHD recorded a total of 276 Patients under investigation (PUIs) A total of 127 PUls tested negative from COVID-19 Seventy-SW (79) PUS have Aso been discharged while 95 others are currently admitted A total of 11,124 out of 41,915 persons under monitoring had already completed the 14-day home quarantine.

UPDATES ON COVID-19 POSITIVE CASES
PH #267 (WV #1): Stable, improved condition, waiting for result of repeat swab test
PH #284 (WV #2): Stable, out of mechanical ventilator
PH #574 (WV #3): Stable
PH #573 (WV #4): Stable and no longer in respiratory distress

UPDATES ON CONTACT TRACING
PH #267 (WV #1): Total of 17 contacts traced; all are asymptomatic
PH #284 (WV #2): Total of 71 contacts traced, all are asymptomatic; wife is currently admitted in a hospital but apparently stable with negative result for COVID-19
PH #574 (WV #3): Total of 9 contacts traced
PH #573 (WV #4): Total of 153 contacts traced

Around the country,DOH reported 96 new cases (PH708-PH803) of COVID-19. The total number of cases in the country is now at 803.

The DOH also reported three new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 31. There are additional deaths, bringing the total to 54.
