Mabilog suspends classes in Iloilo City today, August 11

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has announced that there will be no classes in all levels in Iloilo City Thursday, August 11, due to inclement weather.

The city mayor posted the following announcement in his official Facebook page:

“Because of the bad weather advisory of the Iloilo Radar Weather System where Heavy rains affecting over Iloilo may continue for 1-2 hours that may cause heavy flooding on several areas and on city streets.

As per recommendation of the Iloilo Disaster Management Team, by authority of the General Welfare Act, I Jed Patrick Mabilog, Mayor of Iloilo City declare that ALL CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS ARE SUSPENDED IN THE CITY OF ILOILO TODAY, AUGUST 11, 2016.

All are advised to take precautionary measures and stay dry.”

Mabilog based his decision on the rainfall advisory of Iloilo Radar Weather System issued at 5:43 am Thursday, which states that “light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting over Iloilo, Guimaras and portions of Antique which may continue for 1-2 hours.”
