More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) linemen and engineers recently underwent refresher training to further improve the quality of service and prevent injuries and loss of lives.
Cyril Dalmacio, one of the linemen who has been doing line works for years, said that training refreshes their knowledge and skills which are very essential in their line of duty.
“Kung mag-ubra dapat standard gid kag para nga ang ubra, indi na magbalik-balik kung naka standard gid sa,” says lineman Dalmacio.
MORE Power aims to make its service within the standards and should follow the proper protocols to make the most of every troubleshooting deployment. Teamwork is the key right from the time the company receives calls from consumers, up to how they would approach the problem, up until they finish their output for the day’s work. On top of that, the safety of the linemen, engineers and the consumers is of utmost priority.
The training covers orientation on safety, importance and proper wearing of personal protective equipment or PPE’s, Pole Inspection, Pole Climbing, Proper Cable Termination, Protection of area of troubleshooting from impeding dangers towards passers-by, types of Rope Knots, Loadbuster operation, Grip-all clamp stick operation and many more.
“Thankful gid kami kay eventhough may experiensya kami sa electrical lines, but very important gid nga maka-undergo kami sang formal training, kay gina refresh ya amon skills, knowledge, about the standards. Kay biskan gamay lang siya, pero asta sa gamay nga point is mabal-an nmaom kun paano siya ubrahon,” says Engineer Karl Win Mateo, Line Foreman in Line Construction and Installation under the Network Operations Department of MORE Power.
“In behalf sang amon teams, ga pasalamat gid kami sa company, top management, sa head sang amon nga department sa opportunity nga ginhatag sa amon nga mga engineers kag mga linemen. Dako ini nga bulig nga kung sa field kami, ang gina execute namon ang standard gid kag mas aware pa gid kami kun amon na nga i-apply ang amo ni nga natun-an sa training,” says Engineer Micheal Jhon Fines, Line Foreman in Line Operation and Maintenance under the Network Operations Department of MORE.
The delegates are very thankful of the opportunity where they are able to acquire a holistic learning in their careers. Linemen and engineers do not just respond to troubleshooting works but they are also required to hunt for rampant power pilferages in the city.
“Kung sang una maayo ka nga lineman, mangin mas maayo ka pa gid subong nga lineman. Pero ang training mangin wala ina sang pulos kung sa sulod sang isa ka semana, isa ka bulan wala mo ina gin-apply sa ubra mo,” says lineman Felimon Firman.
MORE Power recognized Lineman Mr. Cyril Dalmacio, Mr. Erwin Hallador and Mr. Adrian Roy Flores, including Engr. Michael Jhon Fines, Engr. Berchel Pacaco and Engr. Karl Win Mateo who showed exemplary performance during the training and actual simulation.
“Malaking tulong ito when it comes to proper knowledge ng lineman, at saka yung sa skills nila. And overall, it will be down to better service because we will now be more efficient in executing rehabs and our repair works,” MORE Power Network Operation Deputy head Engr Bailey Del Castillo said.
The second part of the training module will be conducted before the end of 2022.
