P10M for Pototan Rice Processing Complex access road pavement now ready

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said that the provincial government is set to receive next week the P10 million fund for the pavement of the access road to the Pototan Rice Processing Complex in Barangay Amamaros, Pototan.

Defensor said that the fund will come from the Department of Agriculture (DA) which he has asked from Sec. Proceso J. Alcala during the inauguration of the Rice Processing Complex in 2010.

The governor said that the project, which has a length of about three kilometers from the national road in Pototan town proper to Barangay Amamaros, will provide better access for farmers in bringing their produce to the state of the art rice processing complex for drying and milling.

Pototan is being considered as the rice granary of Iloilo province that it was a recipient of the rice processing complex worth P352-million grant from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with a P50 million counterpart from the Philippine Government.

Defensor said once the project is implemented, it will be no longer difficult for the farmers to transport their rice harvests to the rice processing complex, particularly during rainy season when the feeder road becomes muddy. (Source:PNA)
