Smart WiFi boosts SIM Registration

Priority lanes for seniors in sim registration

Subscribers of PLDT’s wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and its value brand TNT can now also register their SIMs using free Smart WiFi connectivity available in key heavy foot-traffic areas such as airports and other transportation hubs like airports, bus stations and seaports, government offices, hospitals, schools, and malls across the country.

As part of its intensified campaign to assist its customers in registering their SIMs ahead of the April 26 deadline, Smart has made it easier for them to access the SIM registration portal while connected to any of over 1,900 Smart Bro WiFi zones across the country.

Smart, Smart Bro, and TNT subscribers can simply click on the SIM registration banner at the Smart WiFi landing page, which would lead them to the SIM Registration Page, where they can proceed with the registration process. Each subscriber is entitled to one hour of free access to the service.

“This is part of a broad range of initiatives we’ve undertaken to make the SIM Registration experience easier and more convenient. Those who find themselves transiting via transport hubs or passing through establishments where our Smart Bro WiFi zones are present can use the one-hour free connectivity to register their SIMs,” said Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business – Individual at Smart.

“We strongly encourage our customers to make sure to register their Smart and TNT SIMs now, because failing to do so will lead to their SIMs being deactivated,” Flores added.

Over the past months, Smart has rolled out hundreds of assisted SIM Registration booths at malls nationwide, far-flung municipalities and key remote areas in coordination with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the local government units (LGUs), the inter-agency committee in remote areas, and other public telecommunications entities, ensuring that the SIM Registration campaign is accessible to more Smart customers.

To help give ample time to all mobile users, particularly the marginalized sectors and those located in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas of the country, to register their SIMs, Smart and TNT have also reiterated their call asking the DICT and NTC for an extension of the mandated deadline.

Smart Prepaid and TNT customers can register their SIM at http://www.smart.com.ph/simreg or via the GigaLife App.

Meanwhile, Smart Postpaid customers simply need to confirm the personal information and IDs they previously submitted for their postpaid plan application by texting YES to 5858, and wait for the confirmation message from Smart.

Smart Bro subscribers can proceed with SIM Registration by accessing their one-time password at http://www.smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms.
