Cebu Pacific plane overshoots Iloilo Airport runway

A Cebu Pacific plane carrying 180 passengers from Manila overshot upon landing at Iloilo International Airport on Friday night.

In an advisory posted online, management of Cebu Pacific Air said that Manila-Iloilo flight 5J 461 “veered to the side of runway after landing” at the airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo around 11:15 of October 13, 2017.

The Captain and crews then initiated evacuation, with all 180 passengers and six crew members safe and accounted for. They are being attended to by airport personnel.

It was initially reported the that a wing of the plane was clipped as it crashed out of the runway and into the rice fields. Airport management temporarily closed the Iloilo Airport runway and cancelled all flights.

Authorities are now working with Cebu Pacific to investigate the incident and expedite the re-opening of the airport runway. [Photos by Loui Latoza]
